AlwaysFree: Two-Thirds of US Gulf Offshore Crude Output Remained Shut

Author: SSESSMENTS

On Friday, ⅔ of the US offshore crude oil output remained shut following Hurricane Ida although companies have restored almost 200,000 barrels of output.

Around 1.2 million bpd of output in the region was still missing on the back of the prolonged repair efforts. Other than that, more than 1.68 bcfd of natural gas output was offline on the same day.

According to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), a total of 65 platforms and three rigs continue evacuated.

On Thursday, ExxonMobil Corp. pledged 1.5 million barrels of crude from the country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to supply its 520,000 bpd Baton Rouge refinery. Chevron said on the same day that a part of production at its Jack St. Malo and Blind Faith platforms was restored.

On Friday, pipeline operator Enbridge announced its offshore assets were ready to operate once producers bring production back online.
