Unipetrol AS has officially commissioned a new polyethylene (PE) unit at its Chempark Zaluzi petrochemical complex in Litvinov, Czech Republic. The new unit, called PE3 unit, is designed to replace the site’s older 120,000-tons/year PE1 unit. Unipetrol’s PE3 unit has two production lines. The first line has a capacity of 270,000 tons/year and is now fully operational.
Meanwhile, the second line has a capacity of 100,000 tons/year. Unipetrol plans to start operational testing and delivery of the second line after the restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic are lifted. The PE3 unit uses Ineos’ proprietary Innovene S slurry technology to produce mono and bi-modal HDPE. Unipetrol also operates the PE2 unit which can produce up to 200,000 tons/year of PE.
