According to the company’s website news release on December 5, 2022, Viva Energy Australia recently acquired LyondellBasell Australia (LBA), a Geelong-based national manufacturer of Homopolymer Polypropylene (HoPP) which has its production facility located inside the Geelong Refinery.
With the transition to Viva Energy Polymers, the trade name of the HoPP manufactured at the Geelong site will be removed. The legacy LyondellBasell trade names of Moplen and Adstif, will no longer be represented on Viva's Geelong manufactured material. For instance, Moplen HP301R will be sold and labelled as HP301R. Please note: this is a change in the grade name and packaging only, no changes have been made to the manufacturing processes or the chemical nature of these polymers.
Viva Energy Polymers (VEP) have started to pack material coming out of Geelong using the new labels (shown below), however, it may take a few months until they have completely transitioned.
As for the Polypropylene (PP) manufactured elsewhere, no changes apply to the other polypropylene grades offered by our international LyondellBasell joint venture partners.
Qenos eXsource will continue to distribute Viva Energy Polymer homopolymer polypropylene as part of our extensive range of local and international specialty polymers.
If you have any old copies of LyondellBasell Australia datasheets, please replace them with the new version from Viva Energy Polymer's website which can be found via the links below. We've also included our full product list of polypropylene solutions.
