AlwaysFree: US Dow, Denmark’s Haldor Topsoe Team Up On Circular Plastic Development

Author: SSESSMENTS

American chemical company Dow Inc and Danish catalyst maker Haldor Topsoe announced a new initiative to advance the development of circular plastics. The two companies will work together to develop a process to efficiently recycle waste plastics to circular plastics. In the initial stage of the partnership, Dow and Topsoe will improve their lab-scale capabilities to support the design and engineering of the new 10,000 tons/year market development unit (MDU).

The MDu will be constructed at Dow’s compex in Terneuzen, the Netherlands. Dow will carry out the design and engineering for the MDU using Topsoe’s PureStep technology to purify pyrolysis oil feedstock derived from post-consumer plastics. Dow will then upscale the technology for industrial use of circular feedstocks to meet the growing market demand for circular polyethylene (PE).
