On Saturday, the production of the offshore US Gulf of Mexico oil and gas continued to rebuild closer to normal levels after Hurricane Sally prompted the evacuation of 149 platforms and 3 drilling rigs.
According to the US Department of Interior, Saturday’s production in the gulf saw only 323,000 barrels of oil and 339 mmcfd of natural gas output still shut. 24 platforms are waiting for the work crews to return.
The level was comparable to the first time the hurricane struck the Alabama coast on Wednesday, at more than 500,000 barrels of oil and 800 mmcfd of gas was shut.
