In July, the US domestic crude exports went up on a monthly basis, ending the four consecutive months of falls due to the slashed global demand by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the US Census Bureau, the domestic crude exports averaged at 3.2 million bpd in July, up from 2.75 million bpd in the previous month. Compared to July 2019, crude exports were still up by 500,000 bpd.
China was the country’s biggest crude buyer for three straight months at about 578,000 bpd in July. However, China’s purchases in the whole year have been volatile. In June, China bought 657,000 bpd, off from a record of 1.26 million bpd in May.
Canada was in the second position at 425,000 bpd, followed by 330,000 bpd to the Netherlands.
