The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said the US regular retail gasoline price averaged $2.10/gallon during the week before this year’s Thanksgiving, the lowest since the pre-Thanksgiving week of 2015. The declining gasoline price is attributed to weak demand, high inventories, and lower crude oil prices. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also released guidance that recommended people to avoid holiday travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The American Automobile Association (AAA) estimated holiday travel by automobile would fall 4% during this year’s Thanksgiving.
