Versalis and Forever Plast SpA have signed an agreement on the development and commercialization of a new range of solid polystyrene (PS) products made from recycled material. According to Versalis website, the new products will contain up to 75% of recycled solid polystyrene and will be marketed under the brand Revive® PS - Series Forever.
Revive® PS - Series Forever will be able to meet the requirements of some applications, including non-food packaging, household items, and thermal insulation. The National Consortium for the Collection, Recycling and Recovery of Plastic Packaging (COREPLA) will collect and separate household PS waste that will be recycled to produce Revive® PS - Series Forever products.
Versalis is wholly owned by Italian oil company Eni. Versalis has already developed products from mechanical recycling such as Revive® PE - Series and Revive® EPS - Series. Forever Plast is an Italy-based company focusing on post-consumer plastic recovery and recycling.
