On Thursday, Vietnam’s port city of Haiphong said it has approved ExxonMobil Corp.’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) power plant and terminal project.
The USD5.09 billion power plant would have an initial capacity of 2.25 GW expandable to 4.5 GW by 2029-2030. The terminal will have a capacity of 6 million tonnes/year. The first phase would be operational from 2025 and the entire plant from 2028.
The Haiphong power project could use LNG imported from the United States or other countries, said the Vietnamese government in June.
