Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the country import up to 2.6 million tons of plastic worth around 3.3 billion U.S. dollars within the first 5 months of 2020. This indicates a 10.7% decrease in value, but a 3.3% increase year-on-year in volume.
Vietnam also spent around $2.8 billion on plastic importing between the month of January-May, a hike of 7.6% from last year. The biggest supplier countries are China, the United States, Saudi Arabia and South Korea, in no particular order.
Last year the country recorded up to 6.4 million tons of imported plastic products, up 14% in volume year-on-year with the previous year, valued in above $9 billion, down 0.8% year-on-year.
