Metallurgical coal production in China’s Shanxi province is expected to be steady despite extreme weather and its subsequent impacts on the region’s railways and highway operations, industry sources said. A Shanxi-based miner noted that met coal production was largely stable and expected logistics issues to be resolved within a week. Some end users expect delivery delays due to severe damage at the Tongpu railway. They said that logistics disruption could lead to around five days of supply gap. However, they were optimistic that they could manage the supply disruptions, citing the gradual recovery of railway services.
