Yemen’s Houthi group on Monday claimed that it fired missiles at Saudi Aramco’s distribution station in Jeddah, Reuters reported. The Iran-backed militia group also warned Saudi residents and companies that it would continue the operation. The group’s spokesman Yahya Sarea, said it used a Quds-2 type winged missile for the attack which he described as “accurate.” He also showed a satellite image of the said facility.
Until the time when this report was published, Aramco had not released any official comments regarding the claimed attack. Most of the company’s crude export and production facilities are mostly located in the kingdom’s Eastern Province, over 1,000 km (621 miles) from Jeddah.
Houthi has been increasing attacks on Saudi territory since late May after a truce expired. Last year, Houthi attacked Saudi Aramco’s Abqaiq plant and Khurais oilfield. Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia-led coalition said it intercepted two ballistic missiles fired by the group, which targeted the kingdom’s capital, Riyadh, and the industrial city of Jizan.
