PTTGC America, the US subsidiary of Thailand's PTT Global Chemical, expects the coronavirus pandemic to cause a delay on the final investment decision (FID) for the construction of its petrochemical complex in southeast Ohio, according to the company's statement on Wednesday. PTTGCA noted that it would do all they could to reach FID as quickly as possible.
The company and its partner, Daelim Chemical USA, will begin construction of the project soon after reaching FID, it added. The FID has been delayed repeatedly, with the latest target timeframe in the first half of this year.
In February, PTTGCA said it had finished preparation work for the site. The facility will have a 1.5 million tons/year ethane cracker and four derivative polyethylene production units with a total capacity of 1.6 million tons/year.
