AlwaysFreeRegister: PTTGC, Daelim Revise Plan For Petrochemical JV In Ohio

Author: SSESSMENTS

PTTDLM, a partnership between the US subsidiary of Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC), PTTGC America LLC (PTTGCA) and a subsidiary of South Korea’s Daelim Industrial Co. Ltd, Daelim Chemical USA LLC has revised its plan for a proposed joint venture petrochemical project in Belmont County, Ohio.

PTTGCA said in a release that the partnership now expected a timeline of 6-9 months before making the final investment decision for the project. This is a result of the coronavirus pandemic which forces the developers to prioritize the health and safety of all employees and stakeholders. With such a timeline, the project’s FID will likely be reached by the end of 2020 or in the first quarter of 2021.

Despite the challenges, PTTGCA said that the project was progressing and not on indefinite hold. PTTDLM completed the site preparation, engineering, and design work for the project in February. PTTDLM’s proposed project will include six ethane-cracking furnaces and will be able to produce up to 1. 5 million tons/year of ethylene. It will have two HDPE units with each capacity of 350,000 tons/year and two LLDPE/HDPE units with each capacity of 450,000 tons/year.

The proposed project will also include associated infrastructures, including on-site railcar and truck loading,  storage tanks, logistics facilities, supporting utilities, as well as gas, water, air, steam, nitrogen, and electrical installations.
