- After a marked rise in coronavirus cases, authorities in the Philippines have placed Cebu city back under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), from the more relaxed general community quarantine (GCQ) and retained quarantine restrictions in metropolitan Manila for another two weeks starting from June 16. Despite some regions having been put under lockdown again after a flare-up in coronavirus cases, a local converter mentioned that the leading polyolefins producer in the Philippines has increased local PE prices for the second time in a week. Towards the end of last week, SSESSMENTS.COM was informed that the producer adjusted up offers for HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4 between PHP3,000-4,000/ton ($59-78/ton) as compared to last Tuesday's level, available between PHP56,000-57,000/ton ($1,100-1,120/ton) on cash, FD Philippines basis and including 12% VAT.
- Whereas in Vietnam, a local converter revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM that within the past couple of weeks, the company has yet to receive fresh import offers for LLDPE Film C4 from US and Middle Eastern suppliers. As informed, the converter is still holding onto sufficient stocks to cover up monthly production, after securing sufficient volume in the past few months; thus, not in a hurry to make fresh procurement yet. Besides, sales from the company’s end remain sluggish during the month. In the past few months, the converter managed to secure some lots for US LLDPE Film C4 at $758/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam Main Port basis, but did not disclose the exact date.
