Austrian petrochemical maker Borealis has revoked force majeure (FM) on operations at its steam cracker in Stenungsund, Sweden, market sources informed SSESSMENTS.COM. The producer declared FM at the unit on April 8 due to a technical issue. The FM was then revoked on April 19. The unit was also back to normal operations on the same day.
Borealis' Stenungsund cracker has a capacity to produce 625,000 tons/year of ethylene. It also operates a cracker in Porvoo, Finland, with a capacity of 400,000 tons/year of ethylene. Both crackers can process a mix of feedstocks, such as ethane, liquids, and LPG.
