Indonesia’s Chandra Asri Petrochemical (CAP) increases the supply of nonwoven polypropylene (PP) to meet growing domestic and export demand for the material, according to the company’s statement obtained by SSESSMENTS.COM. Nonwoven PP is used as a raw material to produce protective clothing and surgical masks which are in high demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
CAP has a capacity to produce 590,000 tons/year of PP, and for 2020, it plans to produce 30,000-40,000 tons/year of nonwoven PP. Erwin Ciputra, CAP President Director said the company is committed to ensuring sufficient domestic supply and further increasing capacity to meet market demand. He also added that it is also tapping into the export market.
CAP introduced its nonwoven PP product to the domestic market a few years ago for various applications such as reusable spunbond bags, protective clothing, and surgical masks. CAP nonwoven PP product has received a national standardization or Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) and Halal Certification.
