A Chinese PVC producer told SSESSMENTS.COM that there are other angles to probe export-import figures for April. The producer announced that offers for acetylene-based PVC from their end this week are available at CNY6,150 ($861/ton), up by CNY100/ton ($14/ton) from last week's offer. Offers are on cash, EXW China basis and including 13% VAT. The producer also revealed the ability to export to neighbouring countries which can be accessed via freight train but will only open prices when there are inquiries from buyers.
The producer then commented on the number of PVC cargoes in April that has been circulating among market players. SSESSMENTS.COM reported on May 26 that total imports and exports of PVC for/from China market by 40,000 tons and 45,800 tons respectively, which is still considered high by another player, but the source sees it different. The producer source said that the figure was influenced by overseas buyers delaying shipping because of lockdown in the destination country and at the same time April delivery is carrying out the postponed deals in the previous months. "If you take a look at the data, it seems that the export volume is still stable, however, due to the statistical time difference, it would not reflect the real condition," the producer told SSESSMENTS.COM.
The producer also speculated that the announcement of PVC import numbers entering China was overblown and could damage market confidence. Therefore, the price outlook from producer remains stable as supported by tight supply due to scheduled maintenance at local PVC plants.
