India’s Chemplast Sanmar announced force majeure on the company’s PVC plant located at Mettur Dam near Salem in Tamil Nadu. The producer confirmed to SSESSMENTS.COM that the EDC, Chlorine, Caustic Soda plants, as well as the 300,000 tons/year PVC plant, have been shut since March 26. The producer also has no delivery activities due to the lockdown.
According to the producer, almost all PVC producers in India have shut their plants due to the lockdown imposed by the government, except Reliance Industries Ltd. “Finolex, DCW and DCM, all have shut their plants due to the lockdown. Although the lockdown is effective until April 14, there is a possibility for extension,” the producer said to SSESSMENTS.COM’s team.
