Comments by market players on HDPE Film as follows:
A trader in Thailand revealed to SSESSMENTS.COM, “We managed to conclude deals for HDPE Film of Middle East origin at $710/ton on LC at sight, CIF Thailand main port basis. This level is $40/ton lower than the initial offers. There was a hard negotiation process before the producer agreed to sell at this level.”
On May 4, a Vietnamese trader stated, “We have received the import PE offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer. As compared to last week's level, the producer maintains the offers stable at $770/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam main port basis.”
“On the week commencing May 4, we decided to reduce the offers for local HDPE Film by IDR300,000/ton ($20/ton) as compared to a week earlier. On the supply front, the leading Indonesian polyolefins producer has an issue at the company’s 136,000 tons/year old HDPE plant. Delivery for certain grades is delayed for about two weeks,” said an Indonesian trader.
A Vietnamese converter contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM’s team on May 5 informed, “We have received import PE offers of Saudi and US origin. Offers for HDPE Film from both origins stand at $710/ton on LC at sight, CIF Vietnam main port basis. We think offers for Saudi cargoes are quite attractive. Market talks have it that Middle Eastern PE producers are planning to limit the production activity in order to maintain prices. From our end, we are running at the maximum capacity since demand for our end products is healthy. We produce food packaging and export the materials to Europe.”
“Import HDPE Film offers of Malaysia origin surfaced at $750/ton on LC at sight, CIF Philippines main port basis. This level is lower by $100/ton as compared to April. We managed to conclude deals at $20/ton lower than the initial offer level. While in the local market, offers for HDPE Film are still high, at PHP50,000/ton ($990/ton) on cash, FD Philippines basis and including 12% VAT,” a converter in the Philippines told SSESSMENTS.COM.
