A Philippines trader reported to SSESSMENTS.COM that a Thai PE producer’s offers to the country remain available despite the lockdown. “We still received import offers from a Thai PE producer this week while transactions in the domestic market were not many,” the trader said.
SSESSMENTS.COM was informed that compared to last week, HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4 offers from the producer dropped by $10/ton. As for LDPE Film, the offers were stable compared to the same period. Last week, the Philippines government decided to prolong lockdown in Luzon island until April 30. The lockdown was previously to be lifted on April 12. However, a Philippines converter informed SSESSMENTS.COM that the lockdown will be extended again until May 15. On a televised Monday’s night briefing, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has said a lockdown in the country’s most populous island would not be totally lifted until a vaccine, antibody treatment or medicine for the COVID-19 becomes available.
