A Thai PE producer reported to SSESSMENTS.COM that the company applied a distinct adjustment for import and localized offers to the Indonesia market. Compared to a week earlier, offers for import Thai PE cargoes across all grades to the Indonesia market remain stable. The producer stated that offers are for mid-August shipment, except for HDPE Film grade. As explained, supply for HDPE Film is still tight as there due to some backlogs that need to be cleared stemming from the previous maintenance shutdown. As such, for this week, the producer is focused on selling other HDPE grades, such as HDPE Blow Moulding, HDPE Monofilament, and HDPE Injection. However, demand for those grades is slow. The producer also revealed that the number of transactions is limited as the offers are deemed unattractive compared to local prices.
Contrastingly, SSESSMENTS.COM was informed that the producer’s offers in Indonesian Rupiah increased between IDR300,000-400,000/ton ($20-27/ton) from last week due to the depreciation of the local currency against the US Dollar. Further added, the cargoes will also be ready in mid-August onwards.
