A Thai PVC producer informed SSESSMENTS.COM on the company’s plans to adjust operating rate considering the current market movement. The producer said that the sales to the export market have declined significantly. Although the production activity still runs at a normal operating rate for now, the producer expects that the demand in Thai domestic market and from the export market for May to drop significantly, especially with the movement control order in Malaysia has been prolonged. The producer said if the situation worsens, the company is considering to cut the operating rate.
While for April, the producer stated to SSESSMENTS.COM that the demand is better than expected as the demand for rigid film is still ongoing. While for the cable and pipe sector, the demand is only coming from the government project. Although the budget has been reduced to handle the Coronavirus outbreak, the project has to keep running, especially for pipe as the drought in Thailand is still happening.
