The recent local PE offers in the midst of restrictions adjustment will be difficult to stimulate buying activities, a Thai trader told SSESSMENTS.COM. The trader shared that local offers from a Thai PE producer for this week stand at THB28,000 ($876/ton) for HDPE grades and LLDPE Film C4, while LDPE Film at THB32,500/ton ($1,017/ton). The latest offer is up by THB1,500/ton ($47/ton) for HDPE grades and by THB1,250/ton ($39/ton) for LDPE Film, all as compared to promotional prices announced last week.
The trader then commented that customers still voiced out their buy ideas at THB27,500/ton ($860/ton) for HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4. With big buyers already stocking their inventory, limited deals would happen this week and depend on small-to-medium customers, the trader told SSESSMENTS.COM.
Demand wise, the trader informed that end-product sales for plastic packaging are still not recovering even though department stores and restaurants have been allowed to operate again since last Sunday (May 17). Weak demand is owing to limited economic activities as people are still afraid of being exposed to coronavirus. The trader then shared outlook with SSESSMENTS.COM that demand would recover around June since the market activity is predicted to be more active by then.
