Comments by market players on LLDPE Film C4 market as follows:
At the beginning of the week, a Chinese polyolefins producer stated, “Offers for LLDPE Film C4 have increased between CNY300-400/ton ($43-57/ton) as compared to last week’s level. Aside from the stronger futures market, the increment in spot LLDPE Film C4 prices is also supported by the relatively tight supply in the country, ongoing demand, and the delayed arrival of Iranian cargoes to the China market.”
In the import market, a global trading house unveiled to SSESSMENTS.COM, “Import LLDPE Film C4 offers of Thailand origin to the China market for middle to end of August shipment have increased by $10/ton as compared to last week. We opined that although there is no update pertaining to the delayed Iranian cargoes, the room for PE prices to increase is limited since the current levels are already too high.”
A Chinese trader stated, “Import LLDPE Film C4 offers from the leading Saudi polyolefins producer are available at $850/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. However, the offers were deemed unattractive in the market. At the moment, buyers are on a cautious stance on procurement activities. They are worried that the Iranian cargoes would be unloaded at the same time with Middle Eastern cargoes which could lead to the downtrend in PE prices. At the same time, traders are reluctant to place new orders for Iranian cargoes as they fear it will be facing other issues.”
“At the moment, we are offering LLDPE Film C4 of U.S origin at $870-880/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. However, buyers gave a cold shoulder towards the offers,” said another Chinese trader.
The leading Saudi polyolefins producer contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM’s team on July 15 revealed, “Export LLDPE Film C4 offers to the China market have increased by $40/ton as compared to last week, available at $880/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis. The upward price adjustment did not dampen the buying appetite. There is no significant reduction in demand as compared to last week.”
Meanwhile, a trader based in Shanghai commented, “We are waiting for a Thai PE producer to adjust down the offers. We predict that the sales for Thai PE cargoes would not be satisfactory this week; thus, the producer will consider lowering the offers by next week.”
On July 17, a local trader in the country revealed, “Import LLDPE Film C4 of Qatar origin has increased between $10-20/ton as compared to last week’s level. At the moment, Qatari LLDPE Film C4 cargoes are available at $860/ton on LC at sight, CIF China main port basis.”
