A distributor of Thai polyolefins producer contacted by SSESSMENTS.COM revealed pertaining to the tight competition in Thailand’s PE market. According to the distributor, the producer maintained local offers for HDPE Film, LDPE Film, and LLDPE Film C4 stable from last week. However, buyers were only shown interest in HDPE grades on the back of limited supply from the producer’s end. Some deals for HDPE Film recorded lower by THB500/ton ($16/ton) compared to the initial offer level. For LDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4, the distributor is having a hard time to conclude deals since market talks have it that localized Malaysian LDPE Film cargoes are available between THB2,000-2,500/ton ($64-80/ton) lower than the Thai producer’s offers. Likewise, LLDPE Film C4 offers from the local traders in the country are available at THB500/ton ($16/ton) lower than the producer’s price list. For the end-products, demand for plastic packaging is ongoing, although not strong yet since the market is still in a recovery process.
